The Keep Sunday Special campaign by the USDAW illustrates the effort being put forth by a number of groups in restricting work on Sunday. The USDAW is the fourth largest trade union in the UK. They with others succeeded in blocking the efforts of the UK government from expanding Sunday trading hours.
26 conservative MPs rebelled against their party and rejected the governments effort to extend permitted hours of trading on Sunday in the UK. The vote was 317 to 286. Some have called the move an "unholy alliance".
